Sep 15, 2016 Issue compiling on OSX 10.11.6 with Xcode 8.0 #8741. Closed wbchen99 opened this issue Sep 16, 2016 8 comments Closed. I am taking a course on programming with flutter, and it needs Xcode 9 or higher. My mac is currently running 10.11.6 and it can't update any more. I was wondering if there was any way to get Xcode.
Question or issue on macOS:
Xcode 10.11.6
I was able to build on my OS X 10.11.6 machine using XCode 7.3.1 on an iPad Mini 4 running iOS 10.0 beta 6 but when I try building on my iPhone 6S running 10.0 beta 6. Mac – Xcode 10.1 – High Sierra 10.13.6 Posted on April 3, 2019 June 7, 2019 Author MrNetTek If you’re using Mac OS High Sierra, you are required to use Xcode 10.1 for compatibility.
I’m just updated my Mac to OS X 10.11 El Capitan DP 2, and I disappointed that it does not support Xcode 6.3.2
Now, how do I work? I have a project to do, and it’s not a good time to convert my project to Swift 2/Xcode 7 since it’s impossible to submitting at this time?

How to solve this problem?
Solution no. 1:
Open terminal and use this command
/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/MacOS/Xcode </dev/null &>/dev/null &
Solution no. 2:
From the El Capitan release notes:
Xcode versions prior to 7 are not supported on OS X El Capitan Beta 3
And from the Xcode 7 beta 4 release notes:
Xcode 6.x has known compatibility issues when run on OS X version 10.11 El Capitan. It is strongly encouraged that you use Xcode 7 when running on OS X El Capitan.
I know it doesn’t help you much now, but as a general rule of thumb, I recommend not upgrading anything in your build process if you’re on a deadline and you can’t easily revert.
Hope this helps!
