Monopoly Tycoon is a construction and management simulation PC game published in 2001. The player operates a business that owns stores and apartments in a city derived from the Monopoly board game. Instead of using dice, the game relies more on the speed and innovativeness of the players.
Monopoly Tycoon is the traditional fantasy of 'owning it all' taken to the next level. You have nothing but your inheritance and a dream to acquire wealth by buying and developing the Monopoly properties you know and love. Monopoly Tycoon uniquely combines the addictive elements of the most popular simulation games, strategy games and, of course - the Monopoly game! Choose which businesses are built and where. Match wits with cunning AI opponents or tear into family and friends in ruthless multiplayer mode. This is the Monopoly Tycoon Patch v1.4. It is the latest patch available for the game. Note that this release includes all fixes and updates from all previous patches. Here is the full list of fixes and additions: Added map selection to skirmish and multiplayer modes. Added serverside version checking, players of different versions will not be.

If you've played Monopoly, you'll have a fair idea of how this works. Of course, Monopoly Tycoon isn't completely true to the board game. If it were, the game would probably be uninteresting or too hard to play! Instead of buying property, houses, and hotels, you're concerned mostly with building and managing retail shops in Monopoly City (which is sort of like Atlantic City, but not). However, obtaining property, building apartments and hotels, and even chance cards still have a heavy influence on the game, and it is even possible to win (against CPU opponents, at least) without even building a single retail store in specific circumstances!
